Tailoring
my inherent traditional Eastern culture into a cultivated Western atmosphere- I’m constantly consciously incorporating both cultures into communication in
and outside of home, in music and visual arts, as well as in sports. I want to
explore, analyze, and make tangible my attitude toward the cultural fusion and
self-identification of the East and West through my work: the subtle and the
loud; the traditional and the liberal; the focused and the scattered.
I
want the art I produce to be a visual representation of my views and
experiences as a young person who has lived in a big city my entire life and is
continually searching for wisdom, belonging, and fascination. I want my
audience to look at my work with a critical eye and to relive my moments from
scrutinizing my work.
These
views and experiences that I recreate encompass both the precarious real
world and the surreal dream world. My dreams are fabricated from subjects,
hopes, and fears I’ve encountered in the real world- the world I have little
control over and yearn to manipulate. My art will also reflect both my control
and lack of control over my life.
My everyday canvas is the world and I seek
to put my perception of the world on a medium that will best carry it out, through sounds as well as through images. I will work with and without electronic equipment to produce new work, depending on the way I want something to look and on the message I want to convey.
